Thomas Muller shares instant reaction and sends message to Kai Havertz as Arsenal draw Bayern Munich in Champions League quarter-finals

Thomas Muller has reacted to news that Arsenal will be facing Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, sending a message to his fellow German Kai Havertz.

The 34-year-old has won the elite European competition twice and also lost two finals, and he will be relishing the chance of coming up against Arsenal.

Muller has faced the Gunners on a number of occasions in the Champions League and has mostly come out tops, but he will be playing a new and different Arsenal this time around.

The Bayern star took to Instagram to react after the draws were made this afternoon.

“And it’s Arsenal,” Muller posted.

“Kai Havertz, my friend. I am waiting for you. Now it’s a nice draw, two very good teams, two very good stadiums, two very good cities. Uhm, it will be tough but I’m always positive. See you, Gunners.”

The North London club have been impressive this term and are currently top of the Premier League table after 28 games.

They managed to get the better of FC Porto in the round of 16 but will fancy their chances against a Bayern side that have struggled so far in the Bundesliga this term and in other competitions.

The Germans are ten points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen with nine games remaining and the Bundesliga title could go to a new club apart from them for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign.

Bayern lost the German Super Cup to RB Leipzig back in August and were dumped out of the German Cup by third-tier Saarbruecken last November.

They have suffered league losses to Eintracht Frankfurt, Werder Bremen, Leverkusen and Bochum and have not been particularly convincing in the Champions League, so Arsenal have what it takes to advance to the semi-finals at their expense.
