Arsenal interested in signing Teun Koopmeiners

Arsenal are interested in signing Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Giorgio Dusi.

The Gunners are likely to strengthen their midfield at the end of the season and they have already been linked with a number of players.

Speaking to TV Play, Dusi said that Juventus are leading the race to sign Koopmeiners and they could negotiate a part-exchange deal.

However, he added that there is also interest from the Premier League with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool among his admirers.

Atalanta are said to be eyeing at least €60 million to part ways with the Dutch star, who has the ability to play anywhere in midfield.

Dusi said: “Juve is the number one candidate but the payment issue must be paid attention to. Maybe some players that Atalanta like like Iling Jr or Soulé could be included.”

“Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool are also interested. The value? Around 60-65 million euros.

“We must remember that Koopmeiners has also proven to be very flexible, last year he played practically in the midfield while this year he played further forward.”

Arsenal could move for Koopmeiners this summer

The Gunners are likely to invest on a marquee midfielder. David Ornstein recently said that it could be a number six or number eight based on possible outgoings.

Koopmeiners would be a good signing for both positions. The Dutchman started off as a defensive midfielder at AZ before moving into a central role with Atalanta.

This season, the 26-year-old has predominantly featured in an attacking role. He has chipped in with 12 goals and four assists from 34 appearances in all competitions.

Aside from his goal involvements, he has excelled with high pressing, work rate and positioning.

His versatility would be a boost for any club. The left-footed star would add good quality and depth into the Arsenal squad, but the big question is whether he would accept limited minutes.

It is unlikely that he would be guaranteed to start every game at Arsenal.
