Arsenal should focus on signing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer amid the financial woes of the Tyneside outfit.

The Gunners are widely expected to sign a marquee striker. They have already been linked with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Joshua Zirkzee.

Isak has emerged as a target over the past few days and in our opinion, the Swede would be the perfect signing for the number nine position.

The 24-year-old has had a troubled campaign with multiple groin injuries, but he has still fared brilliantly with 16 goals from 30 appearances.

Only Bukayo Saka has managed a similar tally for the Gunners this season and we believe the hierarchy should make a genuine attempt to land Isak.

The Magpies are currently in a precarious financial position. They require a big-money sale to stay on the right side of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman are the club’s most valuable players, but the latter won’t be leaving anytime soon after suffering a serious knee injury this month.

In our view, the Gunners must capitalise on the situation and make an approach for Isak.

The Sweden international was on the Gunners’ radar in the summer of 2021. They were monitoring him but decided against an approach due to his high release clause.

The Magpies went on to sign him one year later for £60 million. We believe Eddie Howe’s side would be tempted to cash in on him for a reasonable profit this summer.

Aside from his 16 goals this season, Isak has also impressed with his quick dribbling and ability to link-up play from deep-lying attacking positions with his clever movement.

His attributes would make him a perfect striker signing for manager Mikel Arteta.

Isak has scored with every fourth shot on target in the English top-flight this season (27 per cent conversion rate) which is a hugely impressive statistic.

With the chances that Arsenal create, Isak could easily become a 25-30 goal striker for the club.
