Arsenal could have big advantage over Chelsea in Victor Osimhen pursuit

Arsenal could have a big advantage over Chelsea in the race to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen this summer.

The Gunners are expected to sign a marquee striker in the next transfer window and they have already been linked with multiple names including Osimhen.

Osimhen currently has a release clause between €120-130 million in his contract signed in December, but it appears he could leave Napoli for a lower sum.

Il Mattino now claim that Arsenal and Chelsea are ready to pay €90m for the centre-forward.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is a tough negotiator, but he appears prepared to accept a lesser fee than the buy-out clause in Osimhen’s deal.

Osimhen is reportedly ‘fed up’ at the Serie A outfit and intermediaries are already working with the striker’s agent to find a new club this summer.

Alongside the London duo, Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing the 25-year-old, but we believe Osimhen will snub the transfer proposal.

The former Lille man has been quite vocal about his dream of playing in the Premier League and he will be determined to make that happen next season.

Arsenal and Chelsea are his main suitors at the moment. In our view, the Gunners could have an upper hand with the progress made in the last 18 months.

The club are currently vying for the Premier League title for the second season running while they have progressed to the last eight of the Champions League.

On the contrary, the Blues finished 12th in the top-flight last term and they are currently 11th. The club look set to miss out on Champions League qualification again.

Osimhen will have his eye on winning trophies and playing in the Champions League. As things stand, Arsenal have by far the better sporting project for the striker.

With the current Profitability and Sustainability regulations, Arsenal are also better placed to strike an early deal compared to Chelsea, who need to recoup funds.

David Ornstein recently said that it is ‘very unlikely‘ that the Blues can afford to sign Osimhen. Hence, Arsenal should be growingly optimistic of landing the striker.
