William Saliba stands out for Arsenal in Man City draw
|Arsenal centre-back William Saliba was the stand-out performer during the goalless Premier League draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
The France international has been in brilliant form over the course of the campaign and he stepped up to the occasion against Cityzens on Sunday evening.
Saliba won an impressive eight out of 10 ground and aerials duels attempted. He also made three tackles, five clearances while managing eight ball recoveries.
The £190,000-a-week star was missed by the Gunners during the season run-in last term after a back injury. The fans will be delighted that he is fully fit this time around.
Aside from Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes also needs to be appreciated for his contribution towards the draw.
The Brazilian star did not win as many duels as Saliba, but he made it tough for Erling Braut Haaland with his physical presence during key phases of the game.
Arsenal are now two points behind leaders Liverpool in the table and the onus should be on returning to winning ways to keep up the pressure on the Reds.
The Gunners will be in league action against Luton Town at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night. They can temporarily return to the top of the table with a win.
Jurgen Klopp’s side won’t be in action until Thursday against Sheffield United at Anfield. They should be widely fancied to pick up three points from the game.
If both teams were to win in midweek, it promises to be an interesting weekend. Arsenal face a testing away trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
Liverpool will play 24 hours later against arch-rivals Manchester United on the road. The Reds are yet to beat the Red Devils in any competition this term.
