Confirmed Arsenal line-up vs Luton Town
|Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made five changes to the starting line-up for tonight’s Premier League clash against Luton Town at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners were on a stunning eight-match winning streak in the top-flight before their goalless draw at Manchester City. They will be aiming to return to winning ways against the Hatters.
Ahead of the game, Arteta has made five changes from the Manchester trip. At left-back, Oleksandr Zinchenko replaces Jakub Kiwior, who has had a heavy workload for club and country lately.
There is a new midfield partnership with Declan Rice and Jorginho given a breather. Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe have got the nod in the number six and number eight roles respectively.
Further forward, Bukayo Saka makes way for Reiss Nelson’s first start of the Premier League season on the right wing. Saka has not made the squad altogether despite Arteta confirming that he was fine.
The fifth change is on the left wing. Leandro Trossard starts ahead of Gabriel Jesus which was expected. Gabriel Martinelli could feature off the bench again, having just returned from a foot injury.
Confirmed Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Luton Town: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Partey, Smith Rowe; Nelson, Odegaard, Trossard; Havertz.
Arsenal dropped two points behind Liverpool for the top spot after the stalemate last weekend. They have the chance to temporarily return to the summit by beating the Hatters.
Liverpool have a winnable fixture against Sheffield United at Anfield tomorrow, but the Gunners have the opportunity to add extra pressure on them with another three points tonight.
Arteta has probably made the right decision to rest some key players with the fixtures coming thick and fast. Luton are probably the weakest team that Arsenal will face in the run-in (with due respect).
