Timber & Nketiah react to Smith Rowe’s man of the match display vs Luton
|Arsenal returned to winning ways on Wednesday night with a convincing 2-0 Premier League victory over Luton Town at the Emirates Stadium.
Emile Smith Rowe was handed his third start of the top-flight campaign. He made the most of the opportunity by playing a part in both goals.
The Gunners graduate won possession in the lead-up to the opening goal before providing a key pass to Martin Odegaard.
Odegaard played a brilliant one-two with Kai Havertz before finding the back of the net.
Right before the interval, Smith Rowe made a fantastic run before delivering a pass in the six yard box leading to Daiki Hashioka’s own goal.
There were no surprises that he was handed the man of the match and his teammates were quick to applaud him following the victory.
In Smith Rowe’s Instagram post, Jurrien Timber responded with a ‘Top’ emoji while Eddie Nketiah said that he was ‘The Best’ on the night.
Smith Rowe has had a difficult season with the Gunners. He started the campaign on the bench and had to wait until October for his first league start versus Sheffield United.
He subsequently picked up a knee injury which ruled him out until mid-December. He has since been a regular on the bench and yesterday’s start was somewhat surprising.
The 23-year-old delivered a solid display against the Hatters, but he is most likely to drop to the bench when the Gunners face Brighton & Hove Albion on the road on Saturday.
Alongside him, Partey could also move to the bench with Jorginho and Declan Rice replacing them.
Arsenal are temporarily top of the league with a one-point gap over Liverpool. The Reds are most likely to reclaim their spot with their game in hand against Sheffield United tonight.
