Tim Sherwood praises Gabriel & Saliba after Brighton victory

Premier League pundit Tim Sherwood heaped praise on Arsenal duo Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba after the 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on the road.

The Gunners were anticipated to face a tough challenge against the Seagulls, but they passed the test in convincing fashion. Bukayo Saka opened the scoring from the penalty spot.

Kai Havertz doubled the club’s advantage after the hour mark before Leandro Trossard put the game to bed with the third goal, four minutes before stoppage time.

The margin of victory should have been wider with the chances created, but the fans should be delighted with the performance from the players at the Amex Stadium.

Havertz was undoubtedly the man of the match for his goal and assist, but Gabriel and Saliba also had a brilliant game at the heart of the defence for the Gunners.

Speaking after the 3-0 win, Sherwood said that the club dominated the game from the off and heaped praise on the centre-back duo by saying that they are ‘absolutely magnificent’.

He told Premier League productions: “Absolutely fantastic the way they dominated the game. There is no panic, no nerves.”

“They’re controlling it at the moment. Gabriel and Saliba are absolutely magnificent, Declan Rice too. A sprinkle of magic up front too with Martin Odegaard back to his best pulling all the strings.”

Gabriel and Saliba won four duels apiece against the Seagulls. They had a comfortable outing, keeping yet another clean sheet for the club on their travels.

The Gunners have now registered five consecutive clean sheets on the road in the Premier League. They have achieved the feat for the first time since April 1997.

Arsenal will be aiming to continue the good form when they host Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night.

The Gunners have had a tough time versus Bayern with three successive 5-1 defeats and they will be aiming to avenge those results with a strong showing.

Bayern are not in the best of form with back-to-back league losses, but Arsenal can’t underestimate them as their whole season now depends on the competition.

They are set to relinquish their title to Bayer Leverkusen after a 12-year dominance. Bayern will be determined to prove a point in the Champions League.
