Alan Shearer praises ‘incredible’ Kai Havertz while picking his Team of the Week

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has heaped Arsenal star Kai Havertz while picking his Premier League Team of the Week.

The Gunners registered their 10th league win of the calendar year on Saturday with a convincing performance at Brighton & Hove Albion.

They dominated the proceedings after a slow start and ended up with a comfortable 3-0 win. The margin of victory could have been much wider.

Havertz starred for the Gunners with a goal and an assist. There were no surprises that he was picked in Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week. Ben White also made the cut.

The former Magpies striker said that Havertz has been ‘ruthless’ and ‘incredible’ since the turn of the year. Shearer added that he has been an outstanding signing.

He told Premier League’s official website: “Ruthless again for Arsenal. He’s been incredible for them since the turn of the year and is now one of the first names on the teamsheet. He’s been an outstanding signing.”

The German has been in sensational league form in 2024. He has 10 goal contributions from his previous eight league appearances for the Gunners.

The 24-year-old has been fantastic since moving into the centre-forward role. He is currently an undisputed starter ahead of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.

His performances have seen Jesus operate from the wide attacking positions and the fans will be hoping that he can sustain his form for the rest of the campaign.

Arsenal will be in Champions League quarter-final action against Bayern Munich tomorrow. Manager Mikel Arteta is most likely to name an unchanged XI.
