Arsenal target Ivan Toney available for £30m/£40m this summer

Arsenal are still monitoring Brentford striker Ivan Toney closely ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Gunners were linked with the England international ahead of the January transfer window but nothing materialised as the Bees wanted £80 million for his services.

However, Plettenberg claims suitors can land Toney for around £40m or less in the summer, which will come as a boost for Arsenal should they look to make a serious move for him.

The 28-year-old has bagged 24 Premier League goals since the start of last term, and the Gunners could do with such a prolific striker next term as they look to challenge for major silverware again.

West Ham United and Chelsea are also keen on luring Toney away from the Gtech Community Stadium club, but a move to Arsenal could be more tempting as he has admitted he loves how the Gunners play.

Playing for the title challengers will further boost his chances of establishing himself as a regular for the Three Lions, and the fact that they will most likely be playing in the Champions League again next term makes them more attractive to other suitors.

Arsenal want another striker this summer amid the frequent injury woes of Gabriel Jesus, and Toney fits the bill, especially if he can be snapped up for £30m or £40m.

He has proven himself in League Two, League One, the Championship and the Premier League, and a move to one of the bigwigs is long overdue having expressed his willingness to play for a big side.

Arsenal need more quality attacking depth to challenge effectively across all competitions next term, and with Eddie Nketiah likely to be sold, bringing in a proven striker in the English top-flight as his replacement will be perfect, and Toney could be the ideal signing for the Gunners.
