Bukayo Saka breaks silence after being denied late penalty vs Bayern Munich

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has reacted on Instagram following the club’s 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League last night.

The England international stood up to the occasion with the opening goal. He produced a fine curling strike to beat Manuel Neuer after just 10 minutes into the game.

Bayern managed to capitalise on two defensive mistakes to pull ahead 2-1, but Arsenal showed grit and determination to secure a 2-2 draw after Leandro Trossard’s late goal.

Saka should have had a penalty right at the end. It was quite clear that Neuer had dangled his leg into Saka’s path, but VAR refused to change the on-field referee’s decision.

Shortly after the game, Saka broke silence on Instagram, he said: “Frustrating, but everything to play for in the second leg”.

Arsenal need to take lessons from first leg

Arsenal had the opportunity to stamp their authority with a solid win, but they were unable to do so. A defensive mishap contributed to Bayern equalising in the 18th minute.

Gabriel would have normally backpassed to the goalkeeper, but David Raya’s very high position meant that he chose to pass to Jakub Kiwior who was dispossessed before the goal.

For Bayern’s second goal, Kiwior was outsmarted easily by Leroy Sane. The German ace dribbled his way into the box before William Saliba gifted a penalty with a foul.

Arsenal were eventually lucky to avoid going 3-1 down. Martin Odegaard and Ben White combined to stop Sane, who was through on goal at one point of time.

Trossard’s late equaliser lifted the mood among the fans, but a penalty should have been awarded.

The Gunners can’t ponder over the result and need to turn up with a more resolute defensive showing in Munich.

We won’t be surprised to see Arsenal play on the counter-attack which Bayern did with aplomb at the Emirates.
