Martin Odegaard stands out for Arsenal in Bayern Munich draw

Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard delivered an impressive performance during the 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last night.

The Gunners welcomed the German outfit in the first leg of the quarter-final yesterday and they were unable to capitalise on home advantage to pick up a victory.

Despite this, there were plenty of positives. Bukayo Saka continued his good form with a fine curling effort. Leandro Trossard netted another crucial goal off the bench.

Gabriel Jesus was also lively with his cameo. He created the equaliser with some exquisite dribbling in the box.

However, Odegaard was the stand-out performer for Arsenal. He orchestrated the proceedings with an impressive 85 touches, completing 61 out of his 69 passes.

The club captain created five chances for his teammates, but he also worked hard defensively with two interceptions, two tackles as well as three ball recoveries.

The €35 million signing was crucial to the Gunners avoiding a 3-1 deficit at the break. Him and Ben White combined to stop Leroy Sane who went through on goal.

Odegaard was unsurprisingly handed the man of the match and the fans will be hoping that he can repeat the performance in the return leg in Munich next week.

Arsenal make amends after defensive errors

Arsenal had the perfect start to the game and should have been 2-0 ahead. Ben White squandered a brilliant opportunity to find the back of the net.

Bayern capitalised on two defensive mistakes to take the lead, but the Gunners managed to pull level with Trossard and Jesus combining for the late goal.

The players showed terrific fight to share the spoils and should have had a penalty right at the end.

They still have the opportunity to progress with a positive result in Munich but ahead of the game, there is a crucial league encounter against Aston Villa.

The Gunners host the Midlands outfit at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and need to return to winning ways to stay top of the table for another week.
