Arsenal expected to knock on Fenerbahce’s door to sign Ferdi Kadioglu

Arsenal are ‘expected’ to knock on Fenerbahce’s door to sign left-back Ferdi Kadioglu this summer, according to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

The Gunners currently have Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior as their left-back options, but none of them are guaranteed starters.

With the inconsistent showing of the trio this month, manager Mikel Arteta could be interested in signing a new player for the position ahead of next season.

Sabuncuoglu has now revealed (via Sports Digitale) that Gunners’ recruiter Romain Poirot has been watching Kadioglu and he has compiled reports on the defender.

The journalist added that the club have decided to make an offer for the 24-year-old at the end of the campaign. They are ‘expected’ to knock on Fenerbahce’s door.

Arsenal could realistically sign Kadioglu

The Turkish ace is a right-footed defender, but he has predominantly played from the left-back role for Fenerbahce this season, registering three goals and four assists.

Kadioglu has caught the eye with his ability to make marauding runs. He averages 26 passes per game in the opposition half this term, winning 80 per cent of his take-ons.

Aside from this, he has been effective defensively. He has won an impressive 5.9 duels and 2.7 tackles per appearance while managing more than six ball recoveries.

His all-round attributes would suit Arteta’s playing style. Arsenal are currently loaded with left-back options, but each one of them can play in different roles.

Tomiyasu and Jurrien Timber (when fit) can operate anywhere in defence while Kiwior is primarily a centre-back. Zinchenko plays in midfield for his country.

Hence, Kadioglu could be signed this summer without any high-profile exit. He is valued at €20 million by Transfermarkt. Arsenal may prefer to sign him for a similar fee.
