Arsenal handed boost over Man Utd & Chelsea in Michael Olise pursuit

Arsenal have been handed a boost over Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign Michael Olise this summer.

The Gunners are on the search for a new winger and Olise has recently emerged as one of the top names on their summer shortlist.

The Crystal Palace winger has also been linked with United and Chelsea, but Arsenal could have an edge after David Ornstein’s update.

In a Q&A session on The Athletic, Ornstein revealed that Olise would only leave Palace for ‘one of the small number of most prominent Champions League clubs’.

Arsenal favourites for Olise with Champions League

The Gunners are in the driving seat for Champions League qualification and another seven points could be enough to finish in the top four due to their superior goal difference.

On the contrary, United and Chelsea are 13 and 16 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa respectively. They have one and two games in hand, but Villa need just six more points to cement their spot.

Keeping this in mind, Arsenal should be favourites to sign Olise, who has registered six goals and three assists from just 839 minutes of Premier League action this season.

Why should Arsenal sign Olise?

The Gunners are currently lacking a quality competitor to Bukayo Saka on the right wing and we believe Olise would be an ideal signing with his strong attacking attributes.

The Frenchman has won a stunning 68 per cent of his take-ons this term. He has also won 6.2 duels on average while creating six big chances. He averages 1.9 key passes too.

His injury record has been a big concern over the past year. He has missed the majority of this season with hamstring injuries, but he was largely injury-free prior to that.

He currently has a £60 million release clause in his Palace contract signed last year. Arsenal could realistically swoop for his services if he can stay unscathed for the rest of the season.
