Arsenal should avoid prospect of signing Juventus striker
|Arsenal are likely to invest on a high-profile striker this summer and they have already been linked with multiple names over the past few months.
Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko are among the prime targets, but the club continue to evaluate their options.
As per TuttoSport, the Gunners seem back in the race for Vlahovic and it is claimed that the Bianconeri could part ways with him on two conditions.
First of all, the Turin giants want the Gunners to pay a fee of €60 million for the striker’s transfer.
The Bianconeri will also need the club to ‘take on the cost’ of his current contract. Vlahovic will earn €230,000 per week starting from next season.
In our opinion, the Gunners should avoid a summer approach for the Serbian star.
Vlahovic’s inconsistency and injuries are a warning sign
The 24-year-old was regarded as one of the best young strikers in 2022 after a sensational year in Serie A where he scored an impressive 34 goals for Fiorentina.
However, he has failed to replicate the same level of performances since his move to Turin. He has netted 17 goals from 31 outings this term, but he continues to remain inconsistent.
Vlahovic has gone through phases where he has struggled to find the back of the net. He has also been sidelined with minor injuries, missing more than 40 days of first-team action.
With the higher intensity of the Premier League, there is a possibility that his goal count could be lower while he could also miss more games with his dubious fitness record.
Arsenal failed to sign him ahead of the Bianconeri in January 2022 and we would want the club to avoid a fresh move. Vlahovic has managed only 40 goals in the last 27 months.
