Declan Rice stands out for Arsenal in hard-fought Wolves win

How the title race is shaping up with Arsenal, Liverpool & City locked in a three-way battle

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice delivered a stand-out performance during the 2-0 Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

The England international has been a key player in the Gunners midfield this season, but he produced another quality showing at the Molineux Stadium.

The Gunners needed a victory to stay alive in the league title race and they managed to do so after goals from Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard.

Aside from the duo, Rice was brilliant from the centre of the park. He started off as a defensive midfielder, but had the license to push forward. He had a couple of attempts on goal.

In the second half, we saw more of the same from him. His influence grew in the final 15 minutes where he made several lung-bursting runs after Thomas Partey’s introduction.

Rice managed five key passes against Wolves. One of those contributed to Odegaard’s late goal.

Aside from this, the 25-year-old had 73 touches. He completed 90 per cent of his passes while winning four tackles and six duels against Gary O’Neil’s side.

The club’s record signing has not been at his best over the past few games, but he was able to step up in what was a potentially tricky game at Wolves.

The Midlands outfit are not an easy opposition to face at the Molineux and they showed it once again despite having several players on the sidelines.

The victory over Wolves has taken Arsenal back to the top at least temporarily. They will now host London rivals Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

Arsenal were far from convincing against Aston Villa in the last home game, and the players will be aiming to make amends against their fierce city rivals.
