Martin Keown praises Leandro Trossard after Arsenal’s win at Wolves

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has heaped praise on Leandro Trossard following his sublime goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

The Gunners went into the game following successive defeats and the pressure was on them to respond with three points to stay alive in the league title race.

Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to find the cutting edge in the box for most of the opening half, but they eventually scored in the 45th minute through Trossard.

The Belgian sliced a first-time effort with his right foot which found the top right corner of the net off the woodwork. Keown was certainly impressed by the goal.

Speaking on Premier League productions, the former centre-back said that Trossard has been a revelation and looks value for money after another key contribution.

He said: “It’s a good play from Arsenal. There’s a suggestion maybe Jesus had received a foul there but he gets up quickly. He [Trossard] just swings a foot at it. He’s been a revelation since he came to club. Value for money? £27 million!”

Trossard had a lively game at the Molineux Stadium. He had 41 touches with eight of those in the box. The former Brighton man also won three duels while making seven ball recoveries.

The Belgian has been in-and-out of the starting line-up this season, but has still remained a consistent performer. He is now enjoying his best-ever scoring campaign in the Premier League.

Arsenal were not at their very best against Wolves, but they managed to get the job done. They had to work hard for the result as Martin Odegaard only made it 2-0 in the 95th minute.

With the result, Arsenal have temporarily returned to the top of the league standings and they have another testing challenge against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

With Manchester City not in action until Thursday against Brighton, the Gunners have an opportunity to extend their lead to four points before Pep Guardiola’s side travel to the South Coast.
