Bruno Guimaraes keen to join a club with a Brazilian connection amid Arsenal interest with Newcastle United open to selling him

Arsenal are considering a move for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes during the summer transfer window, according to the Sun.

The Brazilian international has a release clause of £100 million, but the Magpies could be open to selling him for slightly less should suitors table an attractive offer that includes numerous add-on bonuses.

Manchester City are also keen on Guimaraes, but he loves the idea of joining a club with a Brazilian connection, which hands Arsenal a boost in the race due to the presence of Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes at the North London club.

The former Lyon star also wants to play Champions League football regularly, and leaving Newcastle for the title-challenging Gunners would appeal to him.

While signing a new striker is the top priority for Arsenal, manager Mikel Arteta is open to adding another versatile midfielder to his ranks, with Guimaraes capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder and attacking midfielder.

The 26-year-old has bagged four goals and six assists in 31 Premier League appearances this term and the Gunners could do with his qualities to further establish themselves as regular challengers for the biggest trophies.

The injury-prone Thomas Partey could potentially be sold to raise funds while the future of Jorginho at the club is in doubt, with his deal running out at the end of the term.

Arsenal are in talks with the Italian over an extension, but nothing is guaranteed, and losing him or the Ghanaian will force the club into the market.

Guimaraes will be a solid addition to the Gunners’ midfield and is capable of improving them given what he brings to the table, but whether Arsenal will be keen to splash the cash on another player in that position remains to be seen.
