Ian Wright heaps praise on Kai Havertz after Arsenal’s 5-0 rout of Chelsea

Arsenal legend Ian Wright was delighted with the performance of Kai Havertz following the club’s convincing 5-0 Premier League win over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners faced a tricky challenge against the Blues last night, but they came out of the derby with flying colours. Leandro Trossard secured an early lead in the fourth minute.

The Blues had a couple of good chances to equalise before the break. After the restart, Arsenal dominated the proceedings and ended up with a comfortable victory.

Kai Havertz had a mixed opening half where he could have been better with his finishing, but he turned up after the interval with two wonderful goals against his former club.

Speaking after the game, Wright was delighted with the showing from the German.

He told Premier League productions: “Arsenal were ruthless. They took their opportunities and played very well – and in the second half, they really punished Chelsea.”

“Kai Havertz is in the place he can attack, his touch is brilliant and his strength is superb and he took his goals very well.”

Havertz had a slow start to his Gunners career where he struggled to capitalise on scoring chances.

It took a penalty against Bournemouth to open his goalscoring account, but the 24-year-old has grown in confidence as the season has progressed to become a key player.

Havertz has been brilliant in the second half of the campaign. He has registered seven goals and four assists from his previous 10 league appearances for the Gunners.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that he can continue the sparkling form as they look to end their two-decade wait for the Premier League title, come the end of the campaign.
