Ian Wright praises Bukayo Saka after playing massive part in Arsenal’s win at Spurs

Arsenal legend Ian Wright heaped praise on Bukayo Saka after his fantastic performance in the 3-2 Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The England international has not been in the best of form in recent weeks, but he stepped up to the occasion with a goal and an assist for the Gunners.

Saka’s corner in the 15th minute contributed to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s own goal before he scored his own with a lovely counter-attack in the 27th minute.

The Gunners graduate was put through on goal with a lovely pass from Kai Havertz and he managed to wrong foot Ben Davies before slotting a low shot past the goalkeeper.

Speaking after the game, Wright was delighted with the 22-year-old’s display, he told Premier League productions: “He was a massive part today. I knew it would be tough for Ben Davies.”

“We’re talking about a player who knows what the derby means. I was really pleased with how in control they was. Especially when Tottenham got back in the game. They stayed really calm.”

Saka had a lively north London derby. He won an impressive 12 ground and aerial duels. The winger had a 100 per cent shot accuracy and was denied a brace after a brilliant save by Guglielmo Vicario.

Aside from this, he completed 88 per cent of his passes with 61 touches. Saka attempted five tackles, made two interceptions and drew four fouls from the opposition on Sunday.

Arsenal had a nervy finish after conceding two second half goals with individual errors, but they managed to hold on for a victory which keeps them in the title race with three games left.

The Gunners are top of the table with 80 points on the board. Manchester City are still favourites as they are only one point behind Mikel Arteta’s side with a game in hand against Spurs.

Ange Postecoglou’s side could yet play a huge role in determining this season’s league champions.
