‘Just brilliant’: Ian Wright praises Leandro Trossard after winning goal vs Man Utd

Arsenal legend Ian Wright heaped praise on Leandro Trossard following his match-winning Premier League goal against Manchester United on Sunday evening.

The Gunners faced a must-win game against the Red Devils at Old Trafford and they managed to secure the result after Trossard’s opening goal in the 20th minute.

Kai Havertz delivered a quality assist into the six yard box which Trossard converted into his 17th goal of the season. Following the 1-0 win, Wright was delighted with the Belgian.

Wright said that the finish was ‘just brilliant’ after Trossard timed his run in front of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, he told Premier League productions: “It’s brilliant. The finish is easy but he’s made it easy.”

“The amount of thought that has gone into that, Kai Havertz’s pass has got to have the right amount of pace to get through past the players, past the keeper.

“The timing of Trossard’s run when you look at Wan-Bissaka, who’s a very good one-on-one defender, is just brilliant.

“It’s one of those goals that will be taken for granted as a tap-in but there’s a lot of work that’s gone in to make that look as easy as it was.”

The €38 million-rated star has been a revelation for the Gunners since his switch from Brighton & Hove Albion in January last year.

He was only signed after Chelsea hijacked the Gunners’ move for Mykhailo Mudryk, but the decision has proved a blessing in disguise.

The 29-year-old has made 30 goal contributions in the last 16 months. 19 of those have come this season despite his limited playing time.

Trossard has averaged only 48 minutes per appearance, but he has now established himself as an undisputed starter from the left wing.

Gabriel Martinelli will no doubt want to regain the position in future. The Gunners are blessed to have two fantastic players vying for the role.
