Predicted Arsenal line-up vs Man Utd at Old Trafford
|
Arsenal will be aiming to keep their Premier League title hopes alive when they face Manchester United at Old Trafford today.
The Gunners are currently two points behind leaders Manchester City. They need a victory to ensure that the title race goes into the final day of the season.
The club have a poor record at Old Trafford with just one win in the last 16 league trips, but manager Mikel Arteta will be eyeing another three points.
Ahead of the game, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Bukayo Saka have been deemed doubtful.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
David Raya has been an undisputed starter between the sticks. He recently won the Golden Glove award with 15 shut outs and will be eyeing another clean sheet against United on the road.
Ben White is an assured starter from right-back. Marcus Rashford has had the better of him in the past. The 26-year-old will be eager to make amends amid his impressive form in 2024.
William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes have been the Premier League’s best central defensive pairing and they have kept six clean sheets in the last eight league games. They are expected to keep their places.
Tomiyasu was not spotted in training earlier this week, but we anticipate him to start. The Japanese star is much assured with his defending at left-back compared to Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior.
In midfield, Thomas Partey and Declan Rice should continue for the fourth game running. Partey has been brilliant since his comeback to the starting XI. He played a big role in the club’s last win at Old Trafford in 2020.
Rice has excelled from an advanced central midfield position. He grabbed a goal and an assist in the recent 3-0 win over Bournemouth. The Englishman will be aiming to replicate the same. He scored his maiden Gunners goal with a late winner in the reverse fixture.
Further forward, no changes are on the cards. Arteta said that Saka is doubtful for the trip after a cut on his left leg against Bournemouth, but he was probably playing mind games. We fully expect the Gunners graduate to line up on the right side of the attack.
Kai Havertz has been exceptional up front since mid-February with eight goals and five assists. The German will lead the line. Leandro Trossard should get the nod on the left wing. The Belgian has been a revelation this term with 16 goals in all competitions.
Martin Odegaard will feature from the number 10 position as always. The Norwegian has led by example as the captain. He has been in superb form and will be key to creating chances against United.
