Gabriel Martinelli impresses for Arsenal in final day win vs Everton

Arsenal attacker Gabriel Martinelli produced an impressive performance during the 2-1 win over Everton in the final day of the Premier League season.

The Brazil international has been a regular on the bench in recent months, but he got the surprise nod on the right wing with Bukayo Saka being injured.

Martinelli barely influenced the proceedings during the first half, but he stepped up after the break.

The 22-year-old completed 100 per cent of his dribbles while delivering five crosses into the box.

The forward also created five key chances. He had a passing accuracy of 81 per cent from 69 touches.

Saka has been the Gunners’ undisputed starter from the right wing for the past few years.

There have been questions raised over the lack of a quality back-up for him, but Martinelli showed today that he can comfortably play from the right wing too.

It was only his third start from the position in his Arsenal career, but he showed plenty of promise.

In our opinion, manager Mikel Arteta should test him from the role in pre-season to judge whether he can adapt. It would only benefit the club next term.

Arsenal ended their season with 89 points from 38 games, but it was not enough to secure the title. Manchester City won the league with a 91-point tally.

The Gunners could not end their two-decade long league title drought and the fans will be hoping that the squad will come back much stronger next season.
