Bernardo Silva expects Arsenal to keep Manchester City on their toes because of how demanding and intelligent Mikel Arteta is

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva expects Arsenal to challenge them for major silverware again next term after the Gunners missed out on the Premier League title for the second season running.

The North Londoners finished the 2023-24 league season two points behind Pep Guardiola’s side despite an impressive campaign having finished five points behind them in 2022-23.

Arsenal will look to go one better in 2024-25, and Silva believes manager Mikel Arteta and his young squad will be hungry to win trophies, praising the Spaniard for his intelligence and resilience.

“For sure, I know their manager very well because he was here with us,” the Portuguese replied when asked if he thinks Arsenal will keep Man City on their toes next term.

“I know how demanding and how intelligent he is. If you look at their squad, they are so young, and for sure they are very hungry to go after some titles. So, no doubt about that.”

Arteta and his boys were gutted to lose out to Man City in another close title race, and they have vowed to return stronger next season.

However, Arsenal need to bolster their squad if they are to mount a stronger title challenge going forward, and landing a new attacker capable of delivering goals and assists consistently would go a long way.

The likes of Bukayo Saka (16), Kai Havertz (13) and Leandro Trossard (12) hit double digits in league goals while Martin Ødegaard (10) hit double digits in assists, but they were not enough to get the Gunners over the finishing line.

They could do with another attacker capable of scoring at least 20 league goals, and Arteta and sporting director Edu have to land a number 9 that can improve their fortunes in the final third if Arsenal want to improve their chances of winning the Premier League title next term.
