Napoli striker Victor Osimhen expecting an offer from Arsenal

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is ‘expecting’ an offer from Arsenal during this summer’s transfer window, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nigerian star is considered as one of the best centre-forwards in the Italian top-flight and he could pursue a new challenge away from Naples.

Arsenal are known to be among his admirers and Gazzetta claim that the 25-year-old is awaiting a transfer proposal from the London giants.

Osimhen is also expecting offers from Saudi, but he dreams of playing in the Premier League.

Napoli are currently reluctant to accept anything less than his €120 million release clause, but they may have to negotiate for a deal to materialise.

None of the interested teams are prepared to trigger the buy-out clause in a single payment, considering the striker’s ongoing fitness concerns.

Arsenal should avoid approach for Osimhen

Osimhen had an injury-plagued campaign with Napoli last term. He missed 10 games due to multiple injuries and ended the season with 17 goals from 2,474 minutes.

The striker is now sidelined for four weeks with a fresh injury and won’t be involved for Nigeria in their World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin this month.

In our opinion, his injury record is a cause for concern. Arsenal have already faced a similar situation with Gabriel Jesus whose form has deteriorated since his knee surgery.

The Brazilian has not fully recovered from the setback at the World Cup in 2022 and he recently confirmed that he could undergo a fresh procedure this summer.

Arsenal don’t need another injury-plagued striker in their squad. With the huge outlay required for Osimhen, the Gunners should stay away from making a proposal.

Instead, they should consider a move for Benjamin Sesko who is available for £55 million. The Slovenian netted 18 goals from just over 2,000 minutes for Leipzig last term.

The 20-year-old has huge potential and has not picked up a single injury over the last two seasons.
