Declan Rice Fashion Endorsements: Dressing a Superstar

Declan Rice put in an eye-catching performance as England undid 31 years of hurt in Dortmund, gaining revenge on Ronald Koeman.

In 1993, Koeman hauled back David Platt when the forward was through on goal, and the subsequent yellow card ensured the same player was on the field to score moments later, helping the Netherlands to a win. Arsenal stars Tony Adams, Paul Merson, David Seaman, and Ian Wright were part of the England team left facing the prospect of no World Cup, their first failure to qualify since 1978.

In Dortmund, Rice was one of a handful of Arsenal players involved in a different celebration. He watched Koeman face the press as a beaten man after the Three Lions finally gained revenge. It’s been a long time coming, but box office Arsenal stars, Rice and Saka, helped settle the old score, which is three decades deep.

Rice has become a lynchpin of England’s midfield, a man who is as respected by other fans as he is by those at Arsenal (perhaps not West Ham or Ireland, but still pretty much all). He’s well respected across footballing circles for his rock-solid relationship with childhood sweetheart Lauren Fryer, but there’s no ‘wags’ controversy over in Germany either.

Rice doesn’t entirely shun the glitzy footballer lifestyle; he does have a string of endorsements with high-end brands, which will help him cement his lifelong financial security. Long after the adoring Gooner chants have died down.

Endorsements

One of Rice’s major endorsements is with a fashion brand suited to being seen on one of the world’s best midfielders; he’s backed by Prada. The luxury fashion brand is known for a range of stylish items, from suits to handbags. Prada sunglasses are amongst some of the most luxurious in the world, with their Rossa seen on the likes of Hollywood icon Jake Gyllenhaal. However, Rice was seen mainly in the suits, head-to-toe Prada, on the cover of Circle Zero Eight magazine. The stylish suit, shoes and roll-neck sweater would have been capped off nicely with the shades, but then how would you have recognised the star?

He’s also been made one of the faces of London by New York brand Aimé Leon Dore. Known colloquially as ALD, they’re known for more casual wear than Prada, but they also feature clothing such as hats, sweatshirts, and even footwear. He was joined by Leah Williamson in promoting the ALD brand this year, photographed at a mock-up bus stop wearing brown shoes, shorts and a blue shirt. He was joined by other style icons, such as Gabriel Moses and Loyle Carner, for the campaign.

After two luxury clothing brands, you might be forgiven for thinking the boy had forgotten his roots, so the final endorsement we’ve picked to highlight is a little more ‘of the people’. In 2022, he featured in a Christmas advert promoting a brand perhaps best know for white socks, cheap footballs and rogue owners; Sports Direct. Mike Ashley might not have made a good impression at Newcastle United, but he leaned on his football roots to throw out an advert with football heavyweights such as Eric Cantona, Thierry Henry and Emma Hayes. Rice was featured alongside then West Ham teammate Jarrod Bowen, who is now alongside his friend on the training pitches for England.

Conclusion

Declan Rice has made some controversial moves in his career; Ireland to England, West Ham to Arsenal, but it hasn’t dampened his down-to-earth persona, which is as much a part of his appeal as his versatility on the field. In the clothing brands he’s backed, he’s managed to strike a balance between the stylishly unobtainable and the everyday products we have within our reach. Perhaps, more than any other footballer, these choices reflect exactly who Declan Rice is.

That, and a top performing Gooner who can lead us to another title challenge in 2024/25!
