Wolverhampton Wanderers table bid to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale

Wolverhampton Wanderers have tabled a bid to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after reaching out to the Gunners earlier on Monday, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

The Molineux Stadium club want to sign the England international on an initial loan deal, which would include an option to buy at the end of the season.

They are willing to pay the majority of Ramsdale’s weekly wages as part of a potential deal in a bid to convince Arsenal, but it remains to be seen whether that will be enough to get him.

Wolves rejected two bids from the Gunners for backup goalie Dan Bentley, and it is unknown whether they will include him in the deal to land Ramsdale.

The 26-year-old made the PFA Team of the Year in 2022-23 but has fallen behind Spain international David Raya in the pecking order.

He wants to leave for where he is guaranteed regular playing chances, but Arsenal prefer to sell the former Bournemouth star than let him leave on loan, recently turning down a similar approach from Ajax.

Southampton have also expressed an interest in Ramsdale, but talks have not progressed between both clubs.

Arsenal are preparing for the potential departure of their second-choice goalie, with Espanyol’s Joan Garcia identified as a possible replacement, but suitors may have to part with a sizeable fee if they want to recruit his services.

The Gunners could still change their mind towards the end of the transfer window if no permanent bids come in for Ramsdale, and more clubs could enter into the race to sign him should he become available on loan.
