Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna in UK amid reports Arsenal are back on the trail for Victor Osimhen

Arsenal are reportedly back on the trail for Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen and could make a late swoop for him as we approach the last eight days of the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Gunners have been consistently linked with the Nigeria international for months, and they could receive a boost in the coming hours as the sporting director of the Serie A club, Giovanni Manna, is currently in London, according to Sky Sports.

The Napoli executive is in town trying to close deals involving English clubs, and while it is unknown if talks with Arsenal over Osimhen will hold, nothing can be ruled out if the rumours that the Gunners are back in the race for the striker are indeed true.

The Italian top-flight club are willing to sell the 25-year-old for around £85 million having demanded £111m for his services earlier in the summer.

Chelsea are believed to be favourites to land Osimhen, but they have since signed Joao Felix and could no longer see the need to sign a number 9.

Arsenal have stuck with Kai Havertz as their first-choice striker since last term, and the German has continued to deliver.

Gabriel Jesus provides quality cover from the bench and is a solid option on his day, but having Osimhen leading the line will take the Gunners to another level.

They need an answer to Manchester City star Erling Braut Haaland, and the Napoli star is up to the task given his strength, finishing and physicality.

Napoli could be forced to lower their demands during the final three days of the window if no one has snapped him up by then, and Arsenal could be keeping tabs on the situation.

Osimhen could also be made available on loan if a permanent deal is not forthcoming as manager Antonio Conte does not have the Nigerian in his plans.
