William Saliba impresses for Arsenal in 2-0 win vs Aston Villa

Arsenal continued their fine start to the Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the road.

The Gunners sealed the victory with goals from Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey in the second half, but it was far from routine.

Villa squandered a couple of huge scoring chances through Ollie Watkins. David Raya made an exceptional save to deny the striker.

William Saliba was likewise unbelievable in central defence. He had 107 touches, completing 89 out of his 90 passes attempted (99% accuracy).

He was exceptional defensively with eight duels won alongside four clearances.

The 23-year-old also made a crucial interception in the first half and a splendid sliding tackle to deny Jacob Ramsey a free shot on goal.

Raya bagged the man of the match after his outstanding save, but Saliba was equally impressive and played a big part in the clean sheet.

Saliba made a surprise defensive error against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, but he made amends with a classy performance.

The Gunners have now registered back-to-back clean sheets at the start of a league season for the third time in their long history, as per The Athletic.

They will be aiming to continue the good run against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

The Seagulls have started their league campaign brightly under their new manager and recently beat Manchester United by a 2-1 scoreline at home.

Arsenal can’t take them lightly and will need to produce another strong display to go into the international break with a 100% win record.
