Bukayo Saka impresses for Arsenal in Brighton draw
|Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Gunners were the better side in the opening half and they broke the deadlock in the 38th minute through a lovely goal from Kai Havertz. Bukayo Saka provided the assist.
However, they could not sustain the momentum after the break following Declan Rice’s early sending-off. Brighton were able to equalise quickly, but Arsenal held on for a point.
Havertz and David Raya stood out with their individual displays but in our opinion, Saka was the best player on the pitch with an all-round performance over 90 minutes.
The 5ft 10in star bagged his third assist from as many games this season. He was also solid defensively. He won nine duels alongside seven ball recoveries and four take-ons.
Saka had two big chances to find the back of the net in either half, but it was still another top-notch showing from the winger, who has four goal contributions in the new campaign.
Arsenal have dropped to third in the table after the stalemate. They are already two points behind leaders Manchester City whom they face shortly after the international break.
The Gunners face Tottenham Hotspur and City on the road next month. This should be an early test of the club’s title credentials and it won’t be straightforward by any means.
In the absence of Rice for the derby, Jorginho could come into midfield to partner Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard. Arteta could also utilise Jurrien Timber from the position.
Timber has been inverting into midfield from left-back this term. The Gunners have generally lined up in a 3-2-4-1 formation when in possession with Timber partnering Partey.
