Lacazette reacts after Nketiah’s move to Crystal Palace

Eddie Nketiah unwilling to take pay cut to join Nottingham Forest

Former Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette has sent his reaction following Eddie Nketiah’s late move to Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day.

The Gunners had a busy end to the summer transfer window. The London giants signed Neto and Raheem Sterling on loan from Bournemouth and Chelsea respectively.

The club also parted ways with Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale on permanent deals to Crystal Palace and Southampton respectively while Reiss Nelson was loaned out to Fulham.

Nketiah thanked the club and the fans on Instagram following his move to south London. Lacazette was one of those to react, he wrote: “Eddie Eddie Eddie. Thank you for everything bro.”

Lacazette became a fan favourite during his time at Arsenal with over 200 appearances to his name. He was the club’s captain before his exit in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer.

The Frenchman witnessed the development of Nketiah, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe, Martin Odegaard among others during his time in north London.

Lacazette shared a fond bond with several of those players and we are not surprised that he has thanked Nketiah for his contribution to the Gunners after his decision to move on.

Arsenal brought in Sterling in the closing stages of the window to compensate for multiple forward exits. The Englishman’s experience could be handy for the club in the title race.

The 29-year-old is unlikely to be a regular starter under manager Mikel Arteta, but could have a role to play off the bench.

If he can have the same influence as Leandro Trossard, he could also push for a starting berth with the Gunners this term.

Arsenal will be in Premier League action against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon. They have the opportunity to move to the top of the table.
