Tottenham Hotspur dealt fresh injury blow ahead of Arsenal game as Yves Bissouma sustains knock
|Arsenal have been handed a boost ahead of their North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur as their bitter rivals could be without Yves Bissouma for the game, according to London World.
The Mali international midfielder picked up a knock during his country’s AFCON qualifier against Eswatini on Tuesday night and manager Ange Postecoglou is sweating over his fitness ahead of the visit from Arsenal.
Bissouma has since flown back into London to manage the pain and have the Spurs medical team assess him ahead of the match against the Gunners.
Tottenham will be desperate to have the 28-year-old available to feature against Arsenal as they are desperate to bounce back from their 2-1 loss to Newcastle United last time out.
Spurs could be without the trio of Dominic Solanke, Richarlison and Micky van de Ven for the derby, and missing another influential player is the last thing Postecoglou wants for such a huge game.
Arsenal also have injury concerns of their own, with Martin Odegaard, Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino all ruled out of the game, while Declan Rice is suspended.
Both teams could end up facing weakened sides for the North London derby given the importance of their injured stars, but a fierce battle is expected nonetheless.
Arsenal have won each of their last two games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, winning 3-2 on their last visit back in April having run out 2-0 victors against them in January 2023.
Spurs last won against the Gunners in May 2022 and could find it difficult to beat their city rivals on Sunday. Both managers will be hoping to get the better of one another, and a cracker could be on the cards.
