Arsenal star Bukayo Saka limps off in North London derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur
|Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday away from home after a second-half header from Brazilian centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes.
Arsenal went into the game on the back of several injuries but managed to get the better of their city rivals after a brilliant corner from Bukayo Saka provided the assist for their winner.
However, manager Mikel Arteta could be left sweating over the fitness of the England international attacker ahead of the trip to Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City next weekend.
Saka limped off after going down injured and had to be replaced by Ethan Nwaneri in the closing stages of the game.
It appeared the Arsenal star picked up an issue with his thigh and medical tests will be carried out on him this week to determine the extent of the knock.
The Gunners are back in action on Thursday when they visit Atalanta for their opening game of the league phase of the Champions League, and being without the influential Saka will be a blow.
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard missed out on the North London derby due to the ankle injury he sustained while playing for Norway on Monday, while Riccardo Calafiori and Oleksandr Zinchenko both sat out of it with a calf injury.
The Gunners have now recorded three straight away victories against Spurs since 1988 and will look to keep winning going forward, with their next league game a huge one.
They plan to become the first team this term to prevent Man City from winning after the reigning champions started their title defence with four consecutive league victories, and Arsenal need Saka available for the game.
Declan Rice will be available for selection after missing the trip to Tottenham due to a suspension, but it remains to be seen whether Odegaard, Calafiori, Zinchenko and Mikel Merino will recover in time for the top-of-the-table fixture.
