Tommy Setford seemingly injured as Arsenal name 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter on bench against Atalanta

Arsenal appear to have suffered another injury going by their last two matchday squads, with summer signing Tommy Setford excluded from both.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper was on the bench against Brighton & Hove Albion but has not been seen with the first-team since action resumed after the last international break.

Setford was not part of the Arsenal contingent that travelled to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and has not travelled with them for their Champions League opener against Atalanta tonight.

Instead, the Gunners have named 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter on the bench for the game in Italy.

Arsenal have named six youngsters on the bench for tonight’s Champions League game away to Atalanta, with Jimi Gower joining Porter to receive his first competitive callup to the first-team squad.

Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Salah-Eddine and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji have also been included and will hope to taste action against the Serie A club.

Setford stepped up to take the third-choice position in the goalkeeping department after the North London club failed to sign a second goalie during the summer transfer window.

Aaron Ramsdale left for Southampton on deadline day, while Karl Hein joined Real Valladolid on loan for the rest of the season after signing a new deal.

Arsenal brought in Neto from Bournemouth but were also looking to sign another goalie before the window shuts.

All their attempts fell through and Setford became the third-choice behind David Raya and Neto, getting named in their Champions League squad as part of the senior team.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be keen to rest Raya against Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup next Wednesday and may have to call on one of the youth team goalkeepers if Setford is not available as Neto is cup-tied having featured for the Bournemouth in the competition this term.
