‘Unreal’: Arsenal star Martin Odegaard reacts as he steps up recovery in anti-gravity treadmill
|Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 16 games with a 3-1 comeback win over Southampton in the Premier League last weekend.
The club are one point adrift of table-toppers Liverpool and they will have the opportunity to leapfrog them after the international break.
The Gunners have fared well in recent weeks in the absence of captain Martin Odegaard.
Leandro Trossard has formed a fine partnership with Kai Havertz up front. Mikel Arteta’s 4-4-2 formation has worked with relative success.
Odegaard has been on the sidelines with an ankle injury since early September. His absence has not been felt, but his quality can’t be denied.
Bukayo Saka has stepped up to another level with his chance creation lately, but Odegaard’s return should only improve the Gunners further.
The Norwegian ace has now provided a positive update on his recovery. He has started training in an anti-gravity treadmill at London Colney.
He said: “What a day. Running on the AlterG. Unreal.”
Here is a video from Arsenal’s X account
Judging by the video, the midfielder still can’t put full force on his ankle which is the reason behind jogging in an anti-gravity treadmill.
The gravitational force could be increased steadily as he makes progress until he is fully fit to train in a regular treadmill. This is when he could resume individual training.
In our opinion, Odegaard is unlikely to be fit for the restart after the international break, but Arsenal will be hoping to have him back in team training by the end of October.
