14-year-old Max Dowman trains again with Arsenal first-team today ahead of Nottingham Forest game

Champions League quarter-final previews: Arsenal faces Bayern & more exciting matchups

Arsenal have been preparing hard for their Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday as they look to return to winning ways after going without victory in their last four games in the competition.

Manager Mikel Arteta has provided some injury updates ahead of the game at Emirates Stadium tomorrow, and he will be hoping his boys can get the job done against the visitors.

Pictures from the training session today have been making the rounds on social media, and academy starlet Max Dowman can be seen in action.

The 14-year-old was seen man-marking Arteta in one of the pictures and tussling with Jorginho in another.

Dowman also trained with the Arsenal first-team ahead of the game against Chelsea last time out and is slowly forcing his way into the plans of the manager from the look of things.

The Gunners under-18s starlet made history in the UEFA Youth League in September, bagging a goal against Atalanta aged 14 years, eight months and 19 days to become the youngest player to find the back of the net in the history of the competition.

It is highly unlikely that he will be making his Premier League debut this season, but he could be getting close to breaking the record Ethan Nwaneri set.

The 17-year-old became the Premier League’s youngest player aged 15 years and 181 days when he made his debut against Brentford in September 2022, and while he played just once across all competitions in 2023-24, he has made eight appearances so far this term.

Arteta has often been accused of being reluctant to hand teenagers the chance to prove themselves in senior football, but seeing Dowman in training regularly is encouraging.

He could get a chance in the Cup competitions this season, and fans will be eagerly looking forward to seeing another academy kid break into the first-team.
