Arsenal star Ben White set to be out for three months after undergoing knee surgery
|Arsenal defender Ben White is now set to be out of action for at least three months after undergoing knee surgery, according to the Daily Mail.
The Gunners star finally had an operation on an issue that had lingered for a while and seen him play through the pain barrier for many months.
Arsenal medics believe White returning within three months will be a bonus, and manager Mikel Arteta will hope to have him back sooner rather than later given his versatility.
Fortunately, the North London club have options who can cover in his long-term absence, with the likes of Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori, Jakub Kiwior, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Oleksandr Zinchenko all available options at full-back.
Kieran Tierney is also back in contention after returning to the bench for the first time against Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday since he got injured during the European Championship in the summer.
Versatile Japan international defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is also nearing full fitness and will be available to provide cover and competition for all the positions at the back in the coming weeks.
White has been a reliable player for Arsenal since joining them in the summer of 2021 from Brighton & Hove Albion, making 146 appearances so far, and he will be greatly missed over the coming months.
Injuries have been a recurrent theme with the Gunners this term, with Martin Odegaard recently returning to action after some weeks out, and Arteta will pray his key players manage to stay fit heading into the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.
They returned to winning ways in the Premier League last weekend having gone four games without victory, securing an emphatic 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest before blowing Sporting away 5-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The Gunners are back in action on Saturday with a trip to London Stadium to take on West Ham United, and a win will be a much-needed boost in the title race ahead of the top-of-the-table match between Liverpool and Manchester City the next day.
