Arsenal can sign Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha for £62 million this summer

Arsenal target and Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha has a new release clause of around £62 million, according to the Daily Mail.

The Brazilian was one of the players the Gunners were linked with during the January transfer window, but he ended any uncertainty regarding his immediate future at the Midlands club by signing a new four-and-a-half year contract with Wolves at the weekend.

However, Arsenal and other suitors can activate the buy-out when it becomes valid during the next summer transfer window.

The Gunners are not the only Premier League club keen on recruiting the services of Cunha, with Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest also monitoring his situation.

The 27-year-old has 27 goals and 13 assists in 80 games for Wolves since joining them from Atletico Madrid, and he could be a decent signing for Arsenal should manager Mikel Arteta decide he fits into his system at the Emirates Stadium club.

Arsenal also want Newcastle United hitman Alexander Isak, but it could take more than £120m to sign the Sweden international in the summer as the Magpies are unwilling to let him go anytime soon.

However, Cunha is available for around half of that and could be a steal for that fee given his huge talents.

He has 11 goals and four assists in 23 Premier League games so far this term and has played as a number 9, on both wings and behind the striker, and Arteta loves such versatility in his forwards.

The Brazilian is an excellent dribbler who is a constant threat in counterattacking situations due to his pace, and he is capable of delivering quality crosses into the box whenever he is on the wings.

Cunha is also an excellent finisher who is capable of retaining possession well, and landing him ahead of other suitors could make plenty of sense for the Gunners.
